If you have a child ages 8-17, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

What Camp is Like

Skate Camp Midwest is part epic skateboarding, part classic overnight camp, and part family reunion. Campers spend their days skating, canoeing, swimming, making music, creating art, and hanging out in nature with new and old friends year after year.

For Youth

You will skate a ton, canoe to islands on the river to swim, and choose from activities like music, art, slip ’n’ slide, supervised axe throwing, archery, slackline, and primitive skills with Skate Wild—like learning friction fire and knife safety from trained staff who are also ripping skaters. Then you will stay up (a little too) late laughing with friends around the campfire.

For Parents

That means a well-supervised overnight camp run by experienced staff, with clear safety protocols for every activity—from the skatepark to the river to Skate Wild skills. Campers are supported by trained youth workers, educators, and medical staff who prioritize physical safety, emotional wellbeing, and inclusion, while maintaining a healthy balance of structured activities, rest, and free time to just be kids.

They come home with

  • New skills, tricks and more confidence on and off their board

  • Real friendships and a sense of belonging in the community

  • Group campfire memories that last all year and beyond

Skateboarding & Activities

Skateboarding is at the heart of camp, but it is far from the only thing we do. Whether your child is stepping on a board for the first time or at the skatepark everyday, they will have an opportunity to progress at their own pace and explore many other interests.

On the board

  • Hours of daily skate sessions with experienced counselors who are present and encouraging

  • Focus groups designed to provide accelerated learning

  • Multiple skate parks and features surrounded by nature

  • Friendly contests that keep things fun and inviting, not high pressure

Off the board

  • Canoeing and swimming on the St. Croix River

  • Slip ’n’ slide, supervised archery and axe throwing, and time to explore outside

  • Art and music sessions where learning and creativity happens

  • Nightly campfire and fun skits that bring everyone together

  • Skate Wild, our partner program that teaches primitive skills and connects youth to the outdoors

  • Trained staff:

Our team includes youth workers, educators, medical professionals, parents of campers and experienced camp staff who care deeply about young people.

  • Supervision:

Campers are grouped by age, with staff present and engaged during activities, transitions, and in cabins.

  • Helmets & pads:

Helmets are required for all skateboarding sessions and pads are available for use at any time.

  • Inclusive environment:

We welcome beginners, advanced skaters, and kids who are just interested. Our goal is for every camper to feel seen, safe, and supported.

  • Health & wellness:

We work with families around food needs, medications, and any mental or physical health considerations so campers can participate as fully as possible.
